Essential Photoshop - half day

Welcome to Photoshop, one of the most popular computer image editing programs. This workshop introduces all the fundamentals of using and understanding this essential digital software. Students must bring laptop with Photoshop (any version) preinstalled.

The course is designed in two parts depending upon your experience with this digital image software. A pre-photoshop workshop is available for those who need some training in computer basics necessary for learning Photoshop.... see Confident Computing Workshop.

Photoshop 1

will explore the following topics and features:

* Understanding Image size and Resolution

* Controlling image size for printing, web & email applications

* Image correction – colour, levels, curves, sharpen, blur

* Selecting tools – marquee, lasso, magic wand

* Working with palettes

* Working with layers

* Modifying and correcting images - clone tool

* Saving files and file formats

Cost: $50 + hst

Photoshop 2

will explore the following topics and features:

* Part I review

* Image size extras

* Colour space & enhanced colour correction - rgb vs. cmyk printing

* Enhanced image correction – gamma, exposure, Dodge, burn, sponge

* Working with text

* Using guides

* Creative fun with filters – artistic, rendering lights, lens flares
